The study is designed to give practical help for the effective operation of the free semester that was extended to the entire Chung-buk area in 2016 by disclosing the positive effects of career education and career experience activities for middle school students on their career maturity. Academic curriculum revision established in 2013 is focused on experience-oriented career training course to free students themselves from the burden of tests during the semester and to find their “dream,” and “talent” for preparing for their future. Therefore, The study is aimed at analyzing the effects of career education and career experience activities on the maturity of middle school students and enabling the career education based on the results. The study on career maturity implies that it is important to refer to the maturity of students in decision making related to their careers and to look for ways to improve their career maturity in the future. Therefore, data of this study were collected and analyzed data from one middle school which practiced the free learning semester in the G region of Chung-buk Province and one in the Y region and one in C city, each with no free learning semester. SPSS 21.0 program is operated to identify the general background of the study subjects with frequency and percentage. The factor analysis and the Cronbach’s alpah which is a measure of internal consistency have been established for the reliability and validity of the assessment. In addition, F-test and Scheffe posteriori test have been implemented to verify the difference of the students’ career maturity according to the regions. The results are listed belows. First, the perceptivity of career plan, occupational attitude, career independence underneath career maturity(Attitude area)of students from a school in G region, implementing free learning semester for career education and career experience activities is the highest, in comparison with students from schools from Y regions and C city where the free learning semester is not implemented.
Secondly, the perceptivity of self-understanding, searching information, rational decision making and career knowledge underneath career maturity(Ability area) of students from a school in G region, implementing free learning semester for career education and career experience activities is the highest, in comparison with students from schools from Y regions and C city where the free learning semester is not implemented. Thirdly, the perceptivity of career exploration, career preparation underneath career maturity(Action area) of students from a school in G region, implementing free learning semester for career education and career experience activities is the highest, in comparison with students from schools from Y regions and C city where the free learning semester is not implemented. Therefore, the career education and career experience activities have positive effect on students’ career maturity.
