Traditional culture plays an essential role in establishing national identity. This study develops and proposes a practical skill-focused school art education program of the ceramic culture understanding to establish identity. For this, the elements of education for sustainable development in traditional ceramic culture are classified into social, environmental, and economic aspects as proposed by the United Nations. In addition, through literature and textbook analyses and interviews with specialists, core contents for sustainable development education of traditional ceramic culture are derived for each aspect, including `cultural diversity', `globalization', `identity', `periodic characteristics', `locality', and `history' for the social aspect, 'living environment', 'natural environment', and 'materialistic environment' for the environmental aspect, and 'creativity', 'uniqueness', 'sustainability', 'value-added' and 'cultural exchange' for the economic factors. In addition, a practical training program for each school level is proposed after classifying 13 traditional ceramics commonly published in the current elementary and secondary schools' art textbooks into the derived core contents. The result contributes to the sustainable development of traditional ceramic culture by utilizing the school art education of ceramic culture.
