PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to develop the Intensive Prayer Program to explore the modern application of Avalokiteśvara practice and to verify its effects.
CONTENTS This study focused on the following topics. First, the origins and characteristics of the faith of Avalokiteśvara were examined by the Buddhist literature and practices in history. Second, the development process and composition of the Intensive Prayer Program through the name of Avalokiteśvara were dealt with. Adopting the cyclical development model, the program consisting of 9 stages was conducted in 7 sessions. Third, the program's effectiveness for the participants was verified by measuring a total of 56 items including spirituality, mindfulness, positive emotion, and negative emotion.
RESULTS The conclusion of this study is as follows: The participants experienced concentration and calmness of mind after participating in the program, spirituality scale, mindfulness scale, positive affect scale increased, and negative affect scale decreased.
