연구 목적 본 연구의 목적은 코로나19 전후 한국개신교의 교회학교 양상을 분석하는 것이다. 한국교회의 교인 수는 2000년대 이래 계속 쇠퇴하고 있다. 교회학교도 전반적인 맥을 같이하고 있지만, 코로나19 이후 더 큰 타격을 입고 있다. 방역 해제 후, 장년층은 70.6%가 돌아왔지만, 교회학교 어린이와 학생들의 회복률은 47%이다. 한국교회 교회학교는 코로나19로 인해 더 큰 위기를 맞이하고 있으며, 이 논문은 이런 변화에 대한 학문적 분석을 시도한다. 연구 내용 본 연구에서는 한국교회 교회학교가 쇠퇴하고 있는 현상을 기술하고, 그 흐름의 특징은 무엇인지, 특히 코로나19 상황에서 어린이들과 학생들이 종교 생활을 하는데 어떤 요소가 가장 중요하게 작용했는지 분석하고자 한다. 결론 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 교회학교 어린이와 학생들의 종교 생활에서 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있는 것은 관계이다. 학자들은 연령에 따라 종교 생활을 하는데 아이들이 다른 관계의 영향을 받는 것으로 주장해 왔다. 아주 어릴 때는 가족의 영향을 받고 차츰 교회의 선생님이나 사역자의 영향을 받고 최종적으로 친구들의 영향을 받게 된다고 주장했다. 하지만 코로나19 팬데믹 상황에서 모든 연령에서 가장 중요한 관계는 가족이었다. 특수한 상황에서는 교회의 선생님이나 종교인 또는 또래 집단 친구들의 영향보다 가족의 영향을 가장 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 코로나19 기간 중에는 관계의 연속성과 강도가 더 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 교계나 학계에서 추측하고 있었던 현상을 통계를 통해 제시하고자 했으며 이 현상에 대한 학문적 접근을 시도했다는 데 의의가 있다.
PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of church school in Korean Protestant Christianity based on the statistical data of the Seoul North-west Presbytery in the Presbyterian Church. Korean Christianity has decreased in number since 2000. Church School has also significantly declined in number under the influence of Covid-19. It is considered as a crisis since 70.6% of adult members came back to church whilst only 47% of children returned to church. CONTENTS In order to accomplish this, statistical data will be dealt with. This research describes the phenomenon of the decline of Korean church school, examining its characteristics and analyzing what the constituent elements for children’s religious life are. RESULTS As a result, it suggests that among the constituent elements relationships are the most influential on the religious life of church school children. The theory that children are affected by other relationships apart from family is not applied under Covid-19. It illustrates that the continuity and strong bond of relationships are more important than other elements. The contribution of this research is that it analyzes and interprets the phenomenon of the decline of church school, based on the data.
