This study was conducted to find practical ways to reduce the social isolation of the elderly. Specifically, it was designed to find out the relationship between aging attitudes and social isolation of the elderly, and to verify whether hope has a mediating effect on the relationship between aging attitudes and social isolation of the elderly. In order to conduct this study, a questionnaire was distributed to 300 elderly people aged 65 or older living in Busan from August 1 to 30, 2022, and 275 data excluding 25 unfaithful responses were used for the final analysis using the SPSS program. The main results of this study are as follows. First, it was found that the aging attitude of the elderly had a negative (-) effect on social isolation. Second, it was found that the aging attitude of the elderly had a positive (+) effect on the sense of hope. Third, it was found that the sense of hope had a negative (-) effect on the sense of social isolation of the elderly isolation. Fourth, it was confirmed that the sense of hope had a mediating effect in the relationship between the elderly’s aging attitude and social isolation. Based on these research results, social welfare intervention measures were suggested.
