Objective : The purpose of this study is to provide data on the traffic safety of elderly drivers by analyzing the influencing factors of traffic accidents of elderly drivers and calculating the main accident influencing factors. Methods : This study analyzed 89,959 cases of traffic accidents from 2017 to 2019 from the Korea Expressway Transportation Corporation, a public data source, using Jamovi. Results : The study found that traffic crashes among drivers aged 65 and older increase annually, and that traffic fatalities increase with increasing driver age. It also found a positive correlation between increasing driver age and increasing car-to-car fatalities. Conclusion : This study analyzed the frequency and fatality rate of each type of traffic accident among elderly drivers by age group, and identified the correlation between accident type and fatality rate by age group. The conclusions of this study are expected to be utilized in future traffic accident prevention education and policy formulation for elderly drivers.
