The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of recall function and life quality improvement of the elderly with mild dementia. The subjects of the study were the elderly people with mild dementia aged 85 to 95 in the daytime care center, and five elderly people among therm with 15 to 23 MMSE-K score, who had no inconvenience in their daily lives and no communication issue. The study performed a total of 13 sessions, 60 minutes twice a week from December 2021 to February 2022, and the research adopted MMSE-K and GQOL-D and conducted pre- and post-test to compare and analyze. The results of the study were as follow. First, it was effective in recall function, and showed positive changes in the sub-areas of MMSE-K, such as time tolerance, place tolerance, memory registration, memory recall, and language function. Second, there were positive changes in physical health, psychological health, social relations, environment, overall health, and overall life, which were sub-areas of GQOL-D. Accordingly, the group art therapy program using photographs helped their self-exploration and recall function improvement, improve their sociality by positive and active self-expression and active interaction, and their quality due to emotional stability, happiness, and achievement. Based on these results, the implications and limitations of this study were discussed.
