본 연구는 정서․행동문제로 미술치료를 받은 아동 어머니의 양육경험을 생생하게 탐색하고, 그 의미를 이해하고자 하였다. 연구 참여자는 미술치료를 받은 아동의 어머니 6명이며, 자료의 수집은 참여자의 심층 인터뷰와 인터뷰 내용을 전사한 축어록, 그림과 사진 등이 활용되었다. 자료의 분석은 Giorgi의 질적 분석단계에 따라 수행되었다. 연구결과는 첫째, 참여자들은 자녀의 유․아동기 시절에 어머니 역할을 하면서 자녀에게 무한한 애정을 쏟았고, 그 애정은 어머니에게 한 인간으로서 성장할 수 있는 발판이 되어주었다. 둘째, 참여자들은 자녀의 미술치료 어머니 상담을 통해 막연하게 지각하고 있던 자신의 부정적인 양육태도를 명확하게 인식하게 되었으며, 이는 양육태도의 긍정적인 변화를 이끌어 냈고, 그것은 곧 아이의 변화로도 이어졌다. 셋째, 참여자들은 아동의 미술치료에서 어머니 상담을 통해 자신과 아이에 대한 이해와 조망이 더욱 확장되었고, 아이와의‘참 만남’을 통해 양육에 대한 긍정적인 가치를 새롭게 조명하고 있었다. 넷째, 참여자들의 미술 작업은 연구자의 공감적 촉진을 통한 참여자와의 상호작용으로, 참여자는 안전하게 자신을 개방하며, 자신의 갈등을 다룰 수 있었다. 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.
This study attempted to understand the meaning of the parenting experience of mothers of children who participated an art therapy for emotional and behavioral problems. Participants in the study were mothers of children who had art therapy, and interviews, their contents, paintings, and photos were collected for data analysis. The analysis of the data was performed according to Giorgi's analysis stage. The results of the study showed that first, participants gave affection to their children while playing the role of a mother, which allowed them to grow as humans. Second, recognizing the negative parenting attitude that was vaguely perceived through counseling, it gave positive changes in parenting and led to changes in children. Third, through mother counseling, the understanding and perspective on themselves and their children further expanded, and the value of parenting was discovered. Fourth, the therapist safely opened his mind and could overcome his conflicts through creating artwork. Based on this content, the meaning and limitations of the study were discussed.
