The purpose of this study is to categorize the subclassification of clinical groups of borderline intellectual functioning(BIF) based on intelligence and employment service needs. To this end, 31 high school students and young adolescents commissioned as BIF in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province were tested for intelligence tests(BLCT) and employment service needs scale for people with disabilities from February to March 2021. In addition, interviews with parents were used as the basis for group characteristics understanding. As a result of the study, students and adolescents with BIF were classified into six sub-groups: intellectual disability classification group, BIF: social and emotional support needs group, BIF: overall support needs group, learning difficulty, learning disability risk group, and BIF risk group. The characteristics revealed in the test results and interview reports for each subgroup were summarized, and support plans were discussed.
