The purpose of this case study is to find out what the people with physical disabilities’ experience in the group art therapy process and the meaning of the experience is. Study participants were 9 adult men and women with physical disabilities that brain lesion and functional disorder, who had been using A disabled welfare facilities and had not experienced art therapy, and consented to participate in this study. The participants had 8 sessions of group art therapy from September to November, 2018, and transcripts and art works from the group art therapy were analyzed by using narrative inquiry. Through the process, I found their 5 stories of experiences, ‘My sick body and mind’, ‘Uncomfortable others’, ‘I express myself by art’, ‘Myself in your story’, ‘Beyond disability.’ The meaning of experiences as follows: First, I see myself got stuck in physical disabilities. Second, art draw myself who are different from yesterday. Third, I empathize with me in others. Fourth, I see the future beyond disabilities. Thus, group art therapy makes them express themselves creatively in the relationship with art and others beyond disabilities, and is the process of self-realization that can see oneself, others, the world and the future with a new perspective.
