본 연구는 어머니 퍼빙과 유아 놀이성 간 관계에서 유아 스마트기기 과의존의 매개효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 수도권 및 광역시에 거주하는 3 ~ 5세 자녀 어머니 400명을 대상으로 설문 자료를 수집하고, 불성실 응답자를 제외한 395명의 자료를 분석하였다. 통제 변인으로는 월평균 가구소득, 부모 최종학력, 자녀 연령 및 성별, 어머니 스마트기기 사용 시간이 고려되었다. SPSS 22.0과 Process macro 4.2로 분석한 결과, 첫째 어머니 퍼빙은 유아 스마트기기 과의존에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째 유아 스마트기기 과의존은 유아 놀이성에 유의한 부적 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째 어머니 퍼빙은 유아 스마트기기 과의존을 매개로 유아 놀이성에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 본 연구 결과는 퍼빙이 기존의 유사한 개념들과는 차별화된 개념이라는 관점을 뒷받침하는 근거를 제시하고, 스마트기기 사용과 관련하여 유아 놀이성에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다는 점에서 학문적 및 실천적 의의를 가진다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 어머니와 유아의 바람직한 스마트기기 사용 실천과 부모-자녀 간 질적 상호작용 향상을 위한 부모교육 및 개입 프로그램 개발에 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
This study examines the mediating effect of young children's smart device overdependence in the relationship between mothers' phubbing and playfulness in early childhood. Data were collected from 400 mothers of children aged 3 to 5 in South Korea’s metropolitan areas. After excluding five insincere responses, 395 participants' data were analyzed. As control variables, monthly household income, parents’ education level, the child’s age and gender, and mothers’ smart device usage time was entered. SPSS 22.0 and Process macro 4.2 were used for analysis. The main findings of the study are as follows. First, mothers' phubbing had a significant positive effect on young children’s smart devices overdependence. Second, young children’s smart devices overdependence had a significant negative effect on playfulness. Third, mothers' phubbing significantly influenced playfulness in early childhood through the mediation of young children’s smart devices overdependence. This study provides academic and practical significance by supporting the differentiation of the phubbing concept and revealing the negative impact of smart device use on playfulness in early childhood. The results may promote healthier smart device usage among mothers and children and serve as foundational data for developing programs to improve parent-child interactions.
