간호사의 영성과 관련된 선행연구는 임상간호사의 영적간호(Kang, 2006), 암 환자들 돌보는 간호사의 영적안녕과 영적간호 수행(Yoon, 2009), 간호사와 의사의 영성(Kim,2010), 영성과 정신건강(Heinz & Baruss, 2001), 임상간호사의 죽음불안과 영성의 연구(Kim & Choi, 2010) 등으로 최 근에는 영성에 대한 중요성을 인식하고 관련 연구들이 증가하는 추세이다(Min, 2001). 국내에서 간호사를 대상으로 한 영성연구는 임상간호사와 암병동에 근무하는 간호사를 대상으로 영성의 정도와 영적간호 수행과의 관계에 초점을 두고 있으나(Yoon, 2009) 요양시설노인을 돌보는 간호사들을 대상으로 영성의 정도와 호스피스 간호수행 관련요인을 규명한 연구는 거의 이루어지지 않았다. 한편, 선행연구결과를 살펴보면 노인요양시설 간호사의 호스피스 간호수행을 설명하는 변인으로 영성과 연령, 결혼상태, 종교, 실무기간, 임종경험 여부, 호스피스 교육 여부 등 포괄적으로 접근함이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 노인요양시설간호사의 영성과 호스피스 간호수행 간의 관계를 알아보고, 호스피스 간호수행과 관련된 변인을 파악하여 노인 실무간호를 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다.
Purpose: The main purpose of this study was to identify the influence of nurses\' spirituality on hospice care provided by nurses in long-term care facilities. Methods: The participants were 161 nurses working in long-term care facilities in D and P cities. Data were collected from October to December, 2010 through questionnaires which included the Measure of Spirituality for Koreans by Lee et al. (2003) and Measure of Hospice Nursing Interventions by Bae (2000). Data analysis was done with SPSS/WIN 15.0 program and included one-way ANOVA, independent t-test, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: There was a significantly positive relationship between spirituality and hospice nursing interventions (r=.57, p<.001). Spirituality accounted for 32.0% of the variance in hospice nursing interventions for nurses in long-term care facilities. Conclusion: Spirituality was the most important variable predicting hospice nursing interventions by nurses in long-term care facilities. These findings suggest there is a need to develop effective programs to improve spirituality of nurses in long-term care facilities.
