The purpose of this research was to perform Mandala Group Art Therapy Program and thus investigate
whether the program is effective to the self-identity of middle school youth. Study groups are consisted of
10 students of experimental group and 10 students of control group who applied to this program and who
were middle school students from Y and S region. Program was conducted in 2011, May 11∼July 11; each
time 60 minutes, 12 sessions at those schools. The research questions was mandala art therapy group for
middle school youth what about the effects on Self-identity? were set, Measurement tools were used
Self-identity scale developed by Park(2003) and KHTP. Self-identity scale data analysis was verified by
nonparametic test of SPSS, and the KHTP was used indicator self-identity of Kim(1997)et al for the pre-and
post-changes in comparison through analysis. The results of research were as follows: Mandala Group Art
Therapy Program was effective in improving the Self-identity of middle school youth. As shown in the
results of this research, Mandala Group Art Therapy is effective in establishment the Self-identity of middle
school youth
