This study was to examine the relationships among self-control, self-esteem, aggression, and internet
game addiction in high school boys, and to investigate how much internet using behavior, self-control,
self-esteem, and aggression account for the sub-factors of internet game addiction. For the study, a survey
was done for high school boys from Jeonju and Wanju, from which 563 responses were analyzed. The
results were as follows. First, risk user group showed higher daily internet game use than general user
group. And risk user group visited PC rooms more often than general user group significantly. Second,
the higher daily internet game use and the lower self-esteem, the higher the tendency of internet game
addiction. Third, the internet using behaviors, self control, self esteem, and aggression account for
sub-factors of internet game addiction respectively. Internet using behaviors, self control, self esteem, and
aggression account for sub-factor game-oriented life significantly. They account for the loss of tolerance
and self control. They account for the other sub-factors such as withdrawal and negative emotional
experience significantly.
