The Purpose of this research is to provide the basic materials for the curriculums
at the childcare education college required for childcare teachers; the education course
areas are categorized according to the childcare law enforcement regulation which has
been amended in 2005, and the current curriculum offered by the 2⋅3 year college
and four-year university in Korea are analyzed and discussed on the basis of such
information. The ultimate goal of the research is to propose the educational
recommendation for the development of the childcare education colleges.
The conclusions regarding curriculum innovation in the Korean childcare
education colleges are as follows:
First, as for childcare related courses, there are many cases in which they overlap
with the curriculums or do not correspond. Therefore, course reform must be
conducted when the law is amended in the future. In other words, the child
development course of basic childcare and the family/community collaboration course
regarding childcare thachers must be examined in order to determine their adequacy
to curriculums.
Second, researchs in multiple aspects must be conducted regarding the childcare
teachers in order to confirm the definition of childcare teachers, through analyzing
the role and the task of childcare teachers that suit current situation in Korea.
Third, an organization that leads research to reform the curriculum of childcare
education colleges must be established.
Finally, since anyone can become a childcare teacher by merely obtaining grades
higher than sixty, there must be research regarding the validity of such training and
standard.
