The following study examines currently published textbooks relating to social
work practice, and attempts to identify where the current perspectives and
methods of social work practice lie in terms of micro, macro, integrative areas in
order to search for problems and draw solutions to those problems. After
examining the contents of a variety of textbooks on the theory of social work
practice and skills and techniques for social work practice, it was shown that the
definition and purpose of social work practice are written on the basis of
integrative perspective, and the theory, model, assesment and intervention of social
work practice were mostly written with a micro perspective. Especially, a majority
of assessment and intervention that’s applicable to the field of social work practice
was written on a micro perspective basis. As such, faults were identified in overly
focusing on the micro perspective and methods when social work practice are
carried out. There is a need to develop a social work practice model based on the
macro perspective in order to improve upon the problems caused by the current
textbooks overly focusing on the micro perspective on the application of social
work practice.
