The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 12 weeks combined exercise(walking and thera band exercise) on free radical, antioxidant capacity and blood vessel elasticity in elderly women Subject of combined exercise group performed the walking at 50~70% HRmax for 30min/ session three times per week for 12 weeks. The thera band exercise, one of the resistance exercise, was taking 16 different actions(8 sitting positions, 8 standing positions) by using 4 other color hands(yellow, red, green, blue) with 3 sets of 12 repetition for 30 mins. The results of this study were as following.
The change of free radical was significantly decreased. after combined exercise for 12 weeks. Also, antioxidant capacity was significantly increased after combined exercise for 12 weeks. And, blood vessel elasticity such at left hand, right hand, left foot, right foot were significantly decreased after combined exercise for 12 weeks respectively, In the analysis of correlation, there are significant correlation between blood vessel elasticity wave velocity and free radical as well as between blood vessel elasticity and antioxidant capacity. In conclusions, this study suggests that the 12weeks combined exercise program(running and thera bard) can improve free radical, antioxidant capacity and blood vessel elasticity in elderly women.
