The purpose of this study was to identify the overall needs of long-stay patient mother‘s of young children
with disabilities for treatment support and effective supporting system. The mothers' needs were
explored(frequency analysis) in 211 mothers of young children with disabilities receiving therapeutic supporting
program in 13 hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi province which have children's ward and therapeutic support.
The results of the this study are summarized as below. according to the result of the survey about the needs of
the therapeutic services, the most answered way of the services was 1:1 personal guidance and small group
meeting with professional 5 times or more per week, 40 minutes per session, and 5,100~10,000 won per one
time. In terms of the qualification of professionals, strengthening the licensure through national licensing control
was considered critical. The most important factor was personality of professionals. With regard to improvement
of therapeutic services, flexibility of the duration of hospitalization was requested most in order for long-term
treatment. In addition, the following was also asked: support for medical coverage, direct connection with the
previous therapist without waiting period, medical insurance over the treatment services during hospitalization,
identification of the cost of treatment support and expansion of the child care services.
