본 연구는 중소도시에 위치하고 있는 K시립도서관에서 만 5세 유아자녀를 둔 부모를 대상으로 문학적 접근 활동에 대한 부모교육을 실시하고 가정에서 문학적 접근 활동을 자녀에게 적용하였을 때 유아 자녀의 읽기 동기와 언어 능력에 효과가 있는지 검증하고자 하였다. 연구 대상은 만 5세 유아 43명(실험집단 21명, 비교집단 22명)이었다. 실험집단 유아의 부모는 도서관에서 실시하는 부모교육에 참여하였고 이를 가정에서 자신의 자녀에게 12주간 적용하였다. 본 연구를 위한 문학적 접근 활동은 선정된 12개 그림책을 토대로 Moen(1991)이 소개한 문학적 접근 교수전략에 기초를 두고 개발되었다. 활동개발과 함께 예비검사, 사전검사, 부모교육과 적용, 사후검사 절차로 진행된 본 연구 결과 지역도서관-가정 연계 문학적 접근 활동이 유아의 읽기동기와 언어 능력 향상에 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 부모가 유아의 언어발달을 위한 충분한 지원자가 될 수 있음을 확인한 본 연구결과를 토대로 부모-자녀간의 책읽기와 관련된 부모 역량 계발의 매개체로서의 도서관 역할에 대한 사회적 지원이 요구됨을 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether activities based on a literature approach in connection with a regional public library and family with young children are effective or not on determining young children's reading motivation and language abilities. Forty-three 5 years old were selected for this study. The participants were divided into two groups, an experimental group of 21 and a control group of 22 young children respectively. The experimental group of parents participated in parent education over the course of 14 weeks and the experiment over 12 weeks with their young child. The experimental group of children had opportunities to participate in an activity based on a literature approach with their parents at home. The control group of young children participated in a children's story telling program in the library. There were no differences between the pre-test scores of two groups. According to the results of this study, it was found that the difference of overall reading motivation and language ability scores between the experimental group and the control group was statistically significant. This result indicates that activities based on a literature approach in connection with a regional public library and a family which promotes the improvement of young children's reading motivation and language ability were indeed significant.
