The purposes of this study was to find out the types of problem behaviors of children
and the reasons of their problem behaviors in a full-day kindergarten and to understand
how the teacher guides the children when these problem behaviors appear. To achieve
these purposes, qualitative research was carried ou through observations and interviews in
the full-day kindergarten.
The types and causes of children's problem behaviors in a full-day kindergarten were
various. The causes of children's problem behaviors in a full-day kindergarten were
struggle for occupancy of spaces and objects, refusal of involvement in play, interruption
in activity, differences in development. From these causes, the children showed such types
of problem behaviors as offensive behaviors, violation of principles, behaviors in which a
child is not willing to share.
The teacher guided children's problem behaviors in various ways in a full-day
kindergarten. The teacher used ways such as helping recognize situation, giving caution,
giving direct order, warning and verbal threatening, expressing feeling violently.
