The purpose of this study was to analyze the educational research activities of Korean students studying abroad in Japanese colonial era(1910-1945), and to grasp what kind of western pedagogy they introduced into Korea. In addition, this study attempted to interpret the meaning of it in the history of Korean educational research.
Major conclusions were as follows :
The appearance of the society for the study of Korean education in Japan(在日本朝鮮敎育硏究會), of the journal of Educational Research(敎育硏究) in 1920’s, and of large number of educational researcher studying in Japan and America meant that in that period the history of Korean educational research was begun beyond translated-pedagogy stage. But Japanese colonial era was the transition period which approached genuine educational research stage.
If we set it forth as a premise that theory leads practical interests, it was possible to interpret the difference of educational theories Korean students accepted in Japanese colonial era as a internal cause of conflicts among the educational leading groups in American military government period0945-1948).
