The purpose of this paper is to get some suggestions which existential paradox can suggest in counseling. In explaining of a human being, existentialism approaches paradoxically: Man has been thrown into the world, so he can throw himself in the future. As man has no essence in his being, when he was thrown into the world, he himself can make his essence through his choice, behavior, and responsibility after he was thrown into the world. Man has a baseless base in his choice, therefore he himself can be base in his choice. Man has no meaning in his being when he was thrown into the world, so he himself can create his meaning in his being. According to the human viewpoint of existentialism, man has a capacity for self awareness, the capacity for awareness of responsibility, the capacity for awareness of anxiety, and the capacity for awareness of encounter. Existentialism, especially, existential paradox seems to contribute in counseling: 1. View of human nature (1) Client is free, so he(or she) can live his life with subjectivity. (2) Client has ability to aware himself(or herself), his(or her) environment, and relation of both. 2. Relationship between counselor and client (1) Counselor and Client need to experience encounter and try to continue this encounter in counseling procedures. (2) Both counselor and client need to endeavour for their growth. 3. Counseling techniques: paradoxical approach (1) Each of the problems that clients have has two sides. (2) In order to aware one side of two sides need to aware other side of two sides. (3) Each sides of problem that client want to solve is same thing. For example, life is death.
