The purpose of this study was to be determine the differences of leadership Styles between the public elementary and public Secondary School principals.
Data were obtained by using the reformed Korean, form of the LBDQ. The usable data were collected from the 108 teachers of the 23 public elementary schools and 105 teachers of the 21 public secondary schools in Daegu Municipal City in the Republic of Korea.
The data were analyzed through the statistical procedure of t-test. The data analyzed in the eight leadership factors were: ① informative factor, ② supportive factor, ③ authoritative factor, ④ normative factor, ⑤ protective factor, ⑥ consultative factor, ⑦ renovative factor, and ⑧ affective factor.
The analysis of the data revealed significant differences existed between the Leadership styles of the public elementary and public secondary principals. Except for the authoritative factor revealed no significant differences existed at .05 level of significance, the public elementary school principals were more effective in the seven leadership factors of the total eight than these of the public secondary school pricipals'.
Based on the results identified in this study, the following conclusions are derived.
(1) The task oriented leadership behavior of the public elementary school principals is better than that of the public secondary school principals'.
(2) The relationship oriented leadership behavior of the public elementary school principals is better than that of the public secondary school principals'.
