The purpose of the study is to examine the ways of developing civic competences among young people in global||| multicultural||| and democratic civic societies. The definition of citizenship and the meaning of civic competences were reviewed as theoretical background baed on literature reviews. the core of civic competence was characterized as the world civic consciousness and civic engagement. In particular||| The development of the civic competences can be supported by the five approaches including the emphases on the world civic consciousness and education of cultural diversity||| school participation and simulation activities at achools||| aactivation of multicultural volunteering and community participation by multicultural children and youth||| the promotion of youth participation in public sphere such as regional government||| and the creation of digital media and support for "e-citizen." These tasks are expected to implement at the various realms of civic education at schools and youth works in communities.
