The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effect of
self-directed learning ability on the relationship between protean career attitude
and career satisfaction. For doing so, this study used 'Protean Career Attitudes
Scale' (Briscoe, Hall, & De Muth, 2006), 'Career Satisfaction Scale' (Greenhaus,
Parasuraman, & Wormley, 1990), and 'Self-Directed Learning Ability Inventory:
SDLAI' (Bae & Lee, 2010). A survey was conducted with 549 arts and culture
education professional, taking time from February 11 to 15, 2013. The
CFA(confirmatory factor analysis) and hierarchical regression analysis were
conducted to examine research questions.
The results of this study were as follows: First, arts and culture education
professionals' protean career attitude had positive effect on career satisfaction.
Second, arts and culture education professionals' self-directed learning ability
had moderating effects on the relationship between protean career attitude and
career satisfaction. Based upon the results of this study, several suggestions
were made to enhance arts and culture education professionals' career
satisfaction and self-directed learning ability.
