까li.s article attempts to develop the museum policy and the cultural diversity program for the
society in harmony based on the ICOM Ethics for Museum Professional, the Law of Museum
and Gallery Promotion of Korea, and the UNESCO Convention for the Cultural Diversity. The
identity of museum is in the execution of the role and function as the cultural complex of
preserving the tangible and intangible heritage of the nature and the human beings, and multiperspectively
utilizing the tangible and intangible heritage in the service of human society and
for the purpose of protecting the natural environment.
The countries already institutionally executing the three different multi-culture policies are
pro씨ding the cultural diversiπ programs following as: CD actively promoting an irnmigrant to be
integrated in harmony as a member of the society. @ stably ma뼈ining the social communiψ,
which the native do understand the cultures of irnmigrants, and sometimes through mutual
understanding their own cultures, and @ institutionally ensuring the right of cultures such as
indigenous cultures of the irnmigrants.
The Museum business and activity programs for the society in harmony should be developed
in the perspective of the identi마, role and function of a museum for the safeguarding the
tangible and intangible heritage of humanities and their environment. They should be able to
distribute the member of the society with the benefits of heritage, to contribute to the
development of the various kind of the museum public services, and to enjoy the happiness as a
member of the multi-culture society at any where, at anytime.
