통합적-영성적 사회복지실천의 필요성

미시적이거나 거시적인 클라이언트 시스템 속에 내재하고 있는 영성과 종교성은 개인적인 영적 욕구를 충족시키고 사회적이고 집합적인 의미를 갖는 영성적 이슈들을 다루기 위하여 사회복지 실 천 현장에서 충분히 고려되어야 한다. 테크놀로지 중심적인 탈포스트모던 시대에 발생하는 개인의 심층 심리적이고 사회제도적인 문제들을 해결하기 위하여 보다 클라이언트 중심적이고 영성적인 개입방법이 필요하다. 영성적 민감성과 개입능력을 향상시키고자 하는 사회복지사는 먼저 영성적 지능, 영성적인 발달, 영성적인 리더십, 영성적 사회자본 등과 같은 개념들을 이해할 필요가 있다. 이 논문에서 저자는 영성적으로 민감한 사회복지 실천에 도움이 될 수 있는 통합적-영성적 실천 모델을 제시한다. 클라이언트와 사회복지사 각각의 영성적인 관점들과 사회복지 가치관 및 윤리적 원칙이 이 모델 속에 함께 융합되었다. 이 실천 모델은 Ken Wilber의 통합이론 (Integral Theory)의 사상한적인 분석의 틀을 적용함으로써 사회복지사로 하여금 사회복지 실천현장에서 발견되는 영성 적인 이슈들을 통합적인 관점에서 다루는 것을 용이하게 한다. 이 이론적 모델의 실제적인 적용을 활성화시키기 위하여 논문의 뒤 부문은 사회복지 실천 영역에서 다룰 수 있는 영성과 관련된 미시 적이고 거시적인 실천 이슈들을 예시하였다.

영문초록

Spirituality and religiosity inherent in the client system need to be considered sufficiently in the field of social work practice in order to meet individuals' spiritual needs and to deal with spiritual issues with social and collectivistic meanings. To solve individuals' inner psychological problems and social structural problems arising in the post post-modern era, more client-centered and spiritual intervention methods are needed. Social workers (i.e. social welfare practitioners) who aspire to improve their spiritual sensitivity and competence for professional intervention first need to understand such concepts as spiritual intelligence, spiritual development, spiritual leadership, and spiritual social capital. In this article, the author presents an integral-spiritual practice model that can contribute to a more spiritually sensitive social work practice. This model incorporated spiritual perspectives of clients and social workers as well as social work values and ethical principles. In this model, Ken Wilber's four-quadrant analytical frame of Integral Theory was applied, thus making it easier for social workers to deal with spiritual issues in an integral manner while engaged in micro or macro social work practice. In the latter part of this article, the author showed some examples of micro and macro issues related to spirituality that may be found in the domains of social work practice. In the future, empirical studies need to be conducted to examine the effectiveness of this practice model in improving social workers' spiritual sensitivity and spiritual competence for providing ethically sound professional services.
