This study deal with establishing process and cultural movement of Chendo-gyo religious in Jinju against Japanese Imperialism. The Dong hak that origion of Chendo-gyo was formed in Dugksan to the west of Jinju. so it was known throughout Jinju and being organized after 1890.
Dong hak hsa changed to Chendo-gyo and founded local diocese of twenty three in 1906. That time uniquely Jinju had establis archdioceses in Gyeongsangnam-do. The meaningful members of diocese was pioneer of Dong hak in Jinju and central figure was Chen Hee Soon.
The archdioceses of Jinju has grown a base wich had 7 dioceses in Gyeongsangnam-do in 1914. They fail to align an organization and expand a base, even though they made a grate deal of effort to do these thing for the entire 1910’s. As a result, Chendo-gyo of Jinju didn’t perform an important role in the 3.1 movement. However, it helped Chendo-gyo to make even batter grouth in this region sinse the damage was not grate.
When Jinju Cheondo-gyo youth group was formed, the cultural movement began to germinate. Starting from night schools, temples and schools of doctrine were built one after another. Academic lectures, which were means of the cultrual movement, were very popular in the interests of people. The movement of the youth were also led by Cheondo-gyo in Jinju. All the young groups had little activity, except for Cheondo-gyo young group.
Although Cheondo-gyo didn’t have a big sense of existence in Jinju, they have kept their base without a break since their foundation. Based on the condition, some people with social consciousness took part in Cheondo-gyo. According to their appearance, Cheondo-gyo could make a progress more and more in Jinju.
