This Study is on the contemporary art in the standpoint of the art education.
And to research the method of guiding the appreciation of the contemporary art
practicing it, it does. The situation has changed into the society that surrounded
the art at the present period. It is necessary to interpret the concept ‘the present
age’ and ‘the art ’ newly as a result. This study is about the teaching methodology
of appreciating the contemporary art in the viewpoint of the art educators.
Appreciating the contemporary art, expressly contemporary art means for the
students to be a ware of the current social and personal issues and reflect them
through appreciation of art works. The purpose of this study was to explore
teaching methods of art appreciation and artistic expressions. The methods adopted
here to approach the contemporary art as art appreciators can be divided into
seven themes: thecustom, memory, observation, perception, the viewpoint, the
body, and the trap. These methods can be defined as ‘independent meeting of the
art works’ and ‘accompanying the act’ based on the appreciators' experiences and
viewpoints. The art work samples used in this study were the works of South
Korean contemporary artists and University students.
