Reality, it is said, is socially constructed as interpretations of experience are created and collectively shared (Berger and Luckmann, 1987), This permits society to achieve reasonable stability as individuals accept one constructed symbolic universe as real. However, if a socially constructed reality becomes "taken-for-granted", Challenges to it from individuals become ignored, difficult, and even risky, Reality is indeed powerful!. In schools the curriculum and its art content is one example of a social construction of reality which may become "taken-for-granted". As such, risks may be assumed by a teacher when that reality is called into question. Not only the art curriculum content but also the lived experience of the art teacher may become problematic. Recognizing this becomes helpful as one begins to under-stand the resistance me! when is challenged. Having accepted the idea that either curriculum of the concept of art teacher is a either construction, one may begin to consider how these realities are reconstructed, Understandably.
