This study is to find out the effects of the NLP group counseling program
on communication and self-efficacy of university students. The subjects of
this study were 38 volunteers out of 490 freshmen of K University in the W
city. This program was carried out from October 11 to October 29, 2013 for
twice a week(six times total), and it took about three hours each session.
Before and after this program, the methods used to measure the effects of
self-efficacy were developed by Jeong Tak Heui(1987) and redeveloped by
Kim Joung Myoung(1991), communication inventory (Primary Communication
Inventory: PCI) as developed by Navran(1967) and translated by Choi Eun
Yun(2004). The test results were analyzed by SAS 9.1.3 version program.
The results of the NLP group-counseling program is a significant improvement
in sub-field of self-efficacy ‘activity sustainment ability(p<.01)', ‘abhorrence
-overcoming ability(p<.01)’, total self-efficacy(p<.01). and sub-field of communication
ability ‘verbal communication(p<.01)' and ‘non-verbal communication(p<.01)’,
total communication(p<.01). Therefore, it is possible to say that the NLP
group-counseling program improves university students’ self-efficacy and
communication.
