The purpose of this study is to find out the effects of improvisation on
improving self-efficacy of intellectually disabled adults. To this end, this
study aimed at intellectually disabled adults who are working currently and
offered an improvisation program, then found out the changes of the scores
in self-efficacy rating scale also their self-efficacy relating responses during
the activities. The four subjects of this study were selected ar M missionary
workplace in Gyeonggi city that are able to communicate verbally and
non-verbally and have at least 5 years of experience. The study was
conducted at S church in Gyeonggi city. Before 50 minutes of 15 group
improvisation sessions started, pre-testing of self-efficacy rating scale (Kim,
ah-young) was done for each subject. After all the sessions, post-testing
was conducted for quantitative research and analyzed the musical and verbal
responses showing in each category for qualitative research. Therefore, this
study implies that the group improvisation activities may be a therapeutic
tool to be used for intellectually disabled adults to improve self-efficacy in
their workplace.
