청소년·학생층의 통일에 대한 무관심의 원인은 무엇보다 현행 학교 통일교육에서 기인한다고 보아야 할 것이다. 그것의 문제점은 구체적으로 학교 통일교육의 교과 운영과 교 과 내용의 측면에서 살펴볼 수 있겠지만, 여기에서는 주로 교과 내용과 관련하여 바람직한 북한 이해 및 통일환경 조성을 위한 정책에 대한 제언을 시도하고자 한다. 이런 목적을 위해 본 연구는 먼저, 제Ⅱ장에서 현행 통일교육의 문제점을 분석하고 교과 내용의 개편 방향에 대해 논의하고자 한다. 이어 제Ⅲ장에서는 북한 이해와 통일환경 조성을 위한 대북정책 및 대중정책의 방향에 대해 언급하고자 한다. 학교 통일교육을 논하면서 이와 같이 북한과 중국 에 특별히 역점을 두는 것은 이들 국가들과의 관계야말로 장차 통일과정에서 핵심적인 과제 로 부상할 것으로 예상되기 때문이다.
Youth and students' indifferences of Korean unification due to unification education in schools. Specifically, its causes can be examined in two aspects of operations and contents of curriculum. But it will be, in this paper, studied of suggestions for ‘desirable understandings for reality of North Korea’ and ‘foreign policies for creating conditions of Korean unification’ with respect to the contents of curriculums. For the purpose of it, this paper examined problems of unification education in schools and discussed principal directions of curriculum reform in chapter Ⅱ. And this paper presented understandings for reality of North Korea including issues of how its regime works and policies toward North Korea and China for creating conditions of Korean unification in chapter Ⅲ. As such, this paper emphasized on relations with North Korea and China because they are expected to become to emerged as key challenges in process of Korean unification in future.
