본 연구는 중년기 발달장애인 주간보호시설의 효과적인 운영을 위한 과제를 도출하기 위한 것이 다. 일상생활에 있어 돌봄이 필요하고 자립과 스스로의 권리옹호가 어려운 발달장애인을 주간에 보 호하며 필요한 재활서비스를 제공하는 주간보호시설은 장애인 당사자 뿐만 아니라 그 가족에게 매우 중요한 서비스이다. 어려서부터 장애가 발생하여, 일생동안 특별한 돌봄과 보호가 필요한 발달장애 인이 중년기 나이에 접어들게 되면서 동시에 고령화 되어가는 부모가 자녀를 돌보는 것은 매우 어 려운 일이다. 따라서 누적된 돌봄의 부담을 경감시켜 주기 위한 목적과 중년기 연령대에 적합한 맞 춤형 서비스의 필요성을 고려할 때 중년기 발달장애인을 위한 특화된 주간보호시설이 필요하며 앞 으로 이러한 욕구는 증대될 것이다. 그러나 현재까지 중년기 발달장애인 주간보호시설과 관련된 연 구는 매우 부족하다. 이에 본 연구는 중년기 발달장애인 주간보호시설과 관련하여 중년기 발달장애 인에 대한 이해를 높이고 효과적인 운영 방안과 정책적 대안을 제시하였다.
This study is to provide an alternative for the effective operation of day care center for middle aged adults developmental disabilities. The service in the day care center for adults with the developmental disabilities is very important not only for the disabled people but also for their families, when the center provides the caring and rehabilitation services during the day time. They have got the developmental disabilities from their childhood. When they becomethe middle aged adults, their parents become the elderly. For the elderly people it is very difficult to care their adult children. It seems clear that the special day care center is necessary for the middle aged adults with the developmental disabilities because the center can provide the fitted service with consideration for their age, and help their parents to reduce the load of accumulated caregiving. Moreover, we can say that the need for the day care center will be increased. However, there was not many the research on this issue. Therefore, this study will focus on understanding the middle aged adults with a developmental disability and the day care center for them, and suggest the effective management plan and policy.
