학생들을 학습과정에 적극 개입시키는 교육방법이 학생들의 학습과 발전을 촉 진시킨다는 실험학습(Experiential le따ning)이 학생들 스스로가 자신의 교육에 적 극적인 참여자가 되어 교실수엽의 보완， 학습자의 동기증대 및 자아성취감 고취에 도움이 퇴는 교육방법으로 오래 전부터 연구가 진행되고 있다 (Coleman 1976; Wynd， 1989). 실험학습 활동은 주로 교실 내에서 이루어지지만， 교실 밖에서도 일 일， 단기 및 장기 등의 현장학습 형태로 이루어지고 있다. 최근 상당한 인기를 얻 고있는 실외 현장학습 형태의 하나가 인턴쉽(Intemship)이다.
Internships have proven to be a win-win situation for all participating parties: student, host company, and university. Internships are one of the most important experiences for a college graduate who wants an important international work experience to secure a job after graduation. An increasing number of employers are using internships as a recruiting tool for employees. Universities see internships as a means of validating and updating their curricula and as a catalyst for placing students after graduation. All point to an escalating importance of internships. This study introduces the Overseas Internship Experience, a program designed for undergraduate students who wish to have an overseas work expenence. The development and administration of the program are discussed. The advantages of the overseas internship experience are discussed from the student's perspective. Disadvantages and criticisms of the program are also discussed.
