직유는 비유에 필요한 형식 요소를 모두 갖춘 가장 기본적인 비유이다. 학교에서는 직유를 “ ‘～같 은, ～처럼, ～듯이’를 사용한 비유”로 단순하게 지도하고 있지만, 직유의 형식과 의미 구조는 그보 다 훨씬 복잡하다. 학생들이 직유의 특성과 구조를 이해하고 직유 텍스트를 능숙하게 읽어 냄으로 써 시의 핵심이라 할 비유의 이해에 가까이 다가갈 수 있도록 직유 텍스트 읽기 지도의 내용과 방 법을 구안하는 것이 이 논문의 목표이다. 직유 텍스트 읽기는 직유의 형식적·의미론적 구조 및 은유·제유·환유·상징 등 유사 개념들과의 관계 에 따라 지도 내용을 체계화하고, 시 텍스트 읽기의 과정과 전략을 바탕으로 지도 방법을 정교화할 수 있다. 내용과 방법의 구조가 명료해지면 교육과정과 교재에 직유 텍스트 읽기의 지도 요소를 제 대로 반영할 수 있게 된다. 직유 지도의 내용은 직유의 개념과 위상, 형식 구조와 의미 구조, 텍스 트 읽기의 방법과 전략으로 정리할 수 있고, 지도 방법은 유-종 개념의 적용 및 인접·유사 개념과 의 비교, 시·공간적 텍스트 구조에 따른 형식과 의미 분석, 문화 맥락을 참조한 심미적 효과 분석으 로 단계화할 수 있다. 효과적인 직유 텍스트 읽기 지도를 통해 비유적 사고 및 이해·표현 능력의 신장을 기대하게 된다.
Simile is the most basic figure of comparative expression. At schools, simile is taught as simple as using connective words such as “like” and “as”, but simile’s form and semantic structure is more complicated than what is taught at schools. By understanding structures and characters of simile and efficiently comprehending simile, one may fathom more about simile.Contents of simile’s guidance include concepts and status of simile, structure of formality, semantic structure and methods and strategy of text reading. Methods of teaching simile can be divided into application of vertical concept, comparison between similar concepts, structures and analysis of time and space based texts and analysis of aesthetic effect that is based on the cultural context.Throughout this paper, I analyzed textbooks and curriculum systems that are currently used at elementary schools. Concept of simile has been incorrectly applied, and teaching of simile needs to be modified based on theories of simile. Based on this, teaching of simile text can be more effective by meticulous reading and application of poetry reading structure.
