본 연구에서는 청소년의 심리적 성장환경, 공감능력과 사회적 유능성의 관계를 밝히고자 하였다. 심리적 성장환경이 사회적 유능성에 영향을 미치는데 있어 공감능력이 매개변인으로 작용할 것으로 예측하였고 이를 확인하기 위해 서울 및 경기지역에 소재한 중, 고등학생 630명을 대상으로 심리적 성장환경, 사회적 유능성, 공감능력에 관한 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집한 자료를 통해 분석한 결과 심리적 성장환경, 공감, 사회적 유능성 변인 상호간의 관계는 남학생, 여학생 모두에서 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 또한 공감능력의 매개 효과를 살펴본 결과 심리적 성장환경이 사회적 유능성에 영향을 미치는데 있어 공감능력은 유의한 수준에서 매개효과를 나타내었다. 이러한 결과는 남/여학생 모두에게서 동일한 결과를 보였다. 따라서 남학생과 여학생 집단 모두에서 심리적 성장환경은 아동의 사회적 유능성에 직접적 영향을 미침과 동시 공감능력을 매개로 하여 간접적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
The purpose of this study was to find out the relationship among adolescent\'s psychological growth, empathy and social competence. The subjects were 630 students from middle schools and high schools in Seoul and Kyonggi. Data were analyzed by Pearson\'s correction and regression. Results of this study are as follow: First, psychological growth was positively related to empathy and social competence in male and female students. Second, adolescent\'s empathy mediated the path from psychological growth to social competence. In conclusion, it shows that psychological growth is directly correlated with adolescent\'s social competence. And psychological growth is indirectly correlated with adolescent\'s social compe-tence through the medium of empathy.
