Importance of fat pads around the knee joint was stressed by some workers, but detailed radiological anatomy was not described. Authors observed 50 lateral radiographis of normal adults and described normal radiological anatomy. Radiological findings of normal suprapatellar fat pad, prefemoral fat pad, infrapatellar fat pad and pericapsular fat pads on the posterior aspect of the knee joint are described . Authors also observed those fat pads in patients with various knee joint disease. blurring, obliteration, distortion and displacement of fat pads are nonspecific, but these abnormalities are important in the evaluation of the knee joint disease. It is believed that one my easily obtain various important radiological information about the knee joint disease if he bear in mind the knowledge of anatomy of the fat pads and observe tem meticulously.
