55년경 코린토 교회에 바울을 비난하면서 그를 사도직에서 끌어내리려 는 무리들이 등장하였다. 이들의 성격을 파악하는 것은 난해한 일이다. 그 들이 코린토전서에 나오는 적과 깊은 연관이 있음을 암시하는 증거가 있는 동시에 팔레스타인에서 파견된 사람임을 암시하는 증거가 있기 때문이다. 근대 신학 출범기에 바우어를 비롯한 여러 학자들이 그들은 팔레스타인에 서 바울을 굴복시키기 위해 파견된 밀사들이라는 견해를 제시하였다. 슈미 탈을 비롯해 이런 흐름에 반대하는 학자들은 그들이 보인 영열광주의 현상 에 주목하면서 그들을 영지주의와 연계시키는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 최근 에는 코린토전서의 적과 예루살렘에서 파견된 자들이 연합전선을 구축하 였다는 견해가 대두되었다. 이 논문은 새로운 견해가 기존의 난제들을 얼마나 잘 해결해 줄 수 있 는가를 검토해보았다. 다음과 같은 이유에서 그 결과 새로운 견해가 타당 성이 높다는 결론을 얻었다. 먼저 코린토후서의 적이 여러 가지 특징을 보이는 것은 그들이 혼성집단임을 암시한다. 그리고 바울은 적들을 ‘많은 사람들’이라고 불렀는데 이는 외부에서 침입해온 소수의 적들이 내부의 불 만 집단과 손을 잡았다면 설명가능하다. 따라서 코린토후서 적의 정체는 다음과 같이 정리할 수 있겠다. 코린 토전서가 쓰이던 시기에 내부의 ‘적들’은 영적 체험을 중요시하던 자들로 그들의 영적 능력을 과시하면서 사도 바울의 권위에 도전하였지만, 바울을 지지하는 신자들이 많았기 때문에 대세를 잡지는 못하였다. 그 무렵 바울 을 제거하라는 예루살렘 교회의 명령을 받고 코린토 교회에 온 ‘유대주의 자’들은 이 내부의 적들과 제휴하여 바울에게 맞섰다. 결국 코린토후서 적 들의 우두머리는 유대에서 파견된 자들이었다. 그들은 내부 ‘적들’의 충고 를 받아서 한편으로 영적인 문제를 제기하고, 또 다른 한편으로 예루살렘 교회의 권위를 내세우며 바울에게 도전하였다.
Some people appeared in the Church of Corinth in about 55. They tried to expel Paul from Church decrying Paul publicly. It is difficult to confirm their identity. While there are some evidences to suggest that they have some connections with the opponents of 1 Corinthians, other evidences imply that they have some connections with the circumcision group of Jerusalem Church. Recently several scholars argued that the opponents of 2 Corinthians are combined group of the mutineers of 1 Corinthians and the emissaries of Jerusalem Church. This paper examined the validity of this view. As a result I ascertain several points which support the view. First, the opponents seem to have multiple features. While they showed the strong enthusiasm for the spiritual abilities, they were proud of their pedigree. That they were consisted of mixed group led to this fact. Two groups who had different origins collaborated to remove Paul. Second, Paul said that their numbers were many. This fact is to be explained when we suppose that the emissaries of Jerusalem Church cooperated with the rebels of 1 Corinthians. Third, the opponents of 2 Corinthians seem to be different from those of Galatians. Because they did not demand the circumcision of the believers of Corinth. I think the difference was originated from the strategy of the emissaries of Jerusalem Church. The emissaries of Jerusalem Church determined to use the inner conflicts of Corinthians. Before they arrived, some believers of Corinth challenged the authority of Paul. The emissaries of Jerusalem Church judged that it would be difficult to enforce them to circumcise. Therefore they were content to collaborate with the disobeyers. In sum, the opponents of 2 Corinthians were consisted of the inner disobeyers and the emissaries of Jerusalem Church. They wanted to remove Paul from the Church.
