어머니 불안과 학령 전 아동의 불안 및 우울 간의 관계: 아동 애착 안정성의 조절효과

본 연구는 어머니 불안, 학령 전 아동의 애착 안정성, 아동의 불안 및 우울 간의 연관성을 살펴보고, 아동의 애착 안정성이 어머니의 불안과 아동의 불안 및 우울간의 관계를 조절하 는지를 살펴보았다. 서울시에 거주하는 36개월에서 60개월의 학령 전 아동을 둔 어머니 143 명을 연구 대상으로 하였으며, 어머니 불안 척도, 학령 전 아동의 애착 안정성 척도, 아동의 문제행동 척도를 사용했다. 연구결과, 어머니 불안은 학령 전 아동의 불안 및 우울과 중간 크기의 정적 상관을 보였고, 학령 전 아동의 애착 안정성은 학령 전 아동의 불안 및 우울과 유의하게 큰 부적 상관을 나타냈다. 학령 전 아동의 애착 안정성은 어머니 불안과 학령 전 아동의 불안 및 우울 간의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 학령 전 아동의 애착 안 정성 수준에 따라 불안한 어머니를 둔 학령 전 아동이라도 불안 및 우울 문제를 갖지 않는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 본 연구는 어머니 불안과 학령 전 아동의 정서 발달 간의 관련성에 대한 정보를 제공하였다는 점, 애착 이론의 중요성을 강조한다는 점에서 시사점이 있다.

영문초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate (1) the relationship among maternal anxiety, preschoolers’ attachment security, and preschoolers’ anxiety and depression; (2) the moderating effect of preschoolers’ attachment security on the relationship between maternal anxiety and preschoolers’ anxiety and depression. The subjects in this study were 143 mothers who have preschoolers in Seoul. Data were collected using three kinds of questionnaires. Maternal anxiety was measured by the Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale, the preschoolers’ attachment security was measured by Q-sort, and the preschoolers’ anxiety and depression was measured by CBCL 1.5-5. The data were analyzed by correlation analyses and hierarchical regression analyses. The major results of this study were as follows. First, there was a positive correlation between maternal anxiety and preschoolers’ anxiety and depression. Preschoolers’ attachment security had a negative correlation with their anxiety and depression. Second, preschoolers’ attachment security moderated the relationship between maternal anxiety and preschoolers’ anxiety and depression. In other words, a preschooler who had an anxious mother but had high attachment security with his mother would not have an anxiety and depression problem. The study affirmed the relationship between maternal anxiety and a preschooler’s affect problems and emphasized an importance of attachment theory.
