부모의 감사성향이 청소년의 감사성향에 미치는 영향 : 성별을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 청소년 자녀가 있는 가족 구성원들의 감사성향 수준에 차이가 있는지를 알아보고, 성별에 따라 부모의 감사성향이 청소년 자녀의 감사성향에 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 서울 및 경기도에 소재한 중․고등학교에 재학 중인 남․여 청소년 353명과 그들의 부모를 대상으로 자기보고식 질문지법 을 이용해 자료를 수집하였다. 자료는 대응표본 t 검증, 상관분석, 위계적 회귀분석을 이용해 분석하였다. 주요 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니 집단의 감사성향 수준이 아버지 집단의 감사성향 수준보다 높은 것으로 나타났다. 또한 아버지와 딸, 어머니와 아들 집단의 감사성향 수준 간에 유의한 차이가 있었 다. 둘째, 부모의 감사성향이 높을수록 청소년 자녀의 감사성향이 높았으며, 특히 동성부모의 영향력이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 즉, 남학생들의 감사성향에는 아버지의 감사성향이 어머니의 감사성향보다 상대적으 로 더 많은 영향을 미쳤으며, 여학생들의 감사성향에는 어머니의 감사성향이 가장 영향력 있는 변인으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 청소년 자녀의 감사성향에 부모 모두의 감사성향이 영향을 미치며, 특히 동 성부모가 자신이 얻은 긍정적인 결과에 있어 다른 대상의 기여를 인식하고 그에 감사함을 느끼고 표현하 는 것이 청소년 자녀의 감사성향에 중요하다는 점을 시사한다.

영문초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the level of dispositional gratitude of families with adolescent children and to investigate the effects of parents’ dispositional gratitude on adolescents’ dispositional gratitude. Self-reported data on dispositional gratitude were obtained from 353 adolescents and their biological parents. The data were analyzed using paired t-tests, Pearson’s correlations, and hierarchical regression analyses. The major findings were as follows. First, the average level of gratitude of mothers was higher than that of fathers. In addition, there were significant differences in the level of gratitude between fathers and daughters, as well as between mothers and sons. Second, the gratitude of both fathers and mothers were related to the gratitude of their adolescent children. In particular, the dispositional gratitude of fathers was the most meaningful factor in explaining the level of gratitude in adolescent boys while that of mothers was the most meaningful factor in explaining its level in adolescent girls. These results suggest that parents’ dispositional gratitude plays an important role in the development of dispositional gratitude in adolescent children. The importance of a parent of the same sex as the child was discussed to the promote the level of dispositional gratitude for adolescents.
