This study aimed to examine the effects of stroke program based on the Transactional Analysis on the
self-esteem and the school adjustment of middle school students. The study was conducted on 20 students
from K middle school in Gyeongsangnam-do by random sampling, 10 of them were placed in the
experimental group and the remaining 10 in the control group. Before and after the experiment, the
self-esteem and the level of school adjustment were measured. The scores of the experimental group were
also significantly higher in the school adjustment. Therefore, it was confirmed that the stroke program was
effective in improving self-esteem and school adjustment of school maladjusted middle school students. In
addition, based on the results of this study, it was necessary to utilize the stroke program actively in the
educational process of counseling intervention to improve the school adjustment and self-esteem and to
continue to use the developed group program based on it. The results of this study need to be confirmed
through repeated research, and the necessity of program development to be distinguished according to
stroke type is proposed.
