외국인 유학생들은 타지에서 유학생활을 할 때 새로운 환경과 다른 문화에 의해 발생하는 다양한 문제들에 직면하게 된다. 이러한 문제들은 유학의 결과에 부정적 영향을 미치게 된다. 이러한 문제점 을 해결하기 위해 다양한 연구들이 진행되어 왔는데, 이 연구는 사회적 동일시의 중요성에 초점을 둔 다. 사회적 동일시는 그 사회에 대한 적응과 애착을 수반한다. 그래서 사회적 동일시를 높게 인지하 는 유학생의 경우 환경과 문화에 보다 쉽게 적응하기 때문에 유학의 성과도 향상 될 수 있다. 성공적 인 유학생활을 위해 필요한 요소인 사회적 동일시를 향상시키기 위한 방안을 언어능력, 개인문화적합 성, 사회적 활동, 외향성의 효과로 설명한다. 그리고 이러한 관련성을 입증하기 위해 한국에서 유학생 활을 하고 있는 중국인들에 초점을 두었다. 특히 중국인 유학생의 경우 크게 한족과 조선족으로 구분 될 수 있다. 조선족은 한족에 비해 대체로 한국어에 능통하고 한국의 문화에 보다 익숙하기 때문에 이러한 변수들이 사회적 동일시에 미치는 영향력에는 한족과 조선족 간에 차이가 발생할 것이다. 그 래서 사회적 동일시를 향상시키기 위해 한족과 조선족에 각기 다르게 필요한 요소들이 무엇인지를 설명한다. 이를 통해 한국 내 중국인 유학생들은 자신의 민족에 적합한 사회적 동일시 향상 방안을 이해하고 이를 활용하여 보다 성공적인 유학생활을 할 수 있게 될 것이다.
Foreign students are confronted with various problems such as new culture and environment when they study abroad. This study investigates Chinese students who study in Korea; and emphasizes importance of social identity, which is necessary for Chinese students to adapt to Korean society and achieve academic goals.
