This study looked into the image of a director of a daycare center
perceived by pre-service child care teachers of the academic credit bank
system through their metaphor.
This study collected data by conducting a survey targeting 34 students
who signed up for and took the child care practice subject for pre-service
child care teachers who intended to get a certificate of a child-care teacher
through the academic credit bank system of S College located at O-gu,
Seoul-si.
This study analyzed a director’s image perceived by pre-service child care
teachers through frequency analysis and qualitative analysis method, and as
personal variables, this study conducted frequency analysis to look into the
difference consequent on educational background acquired through diverse
paths, and consequent on children’s age in their charge.
The result of this study revealed a director’s image perceived by
pre-service child care teachers in 10 sorts of categories. The images related
to job performance were classified into 6 sorts of categories, such as a
leader, a person in charge of management, guardian, manager, and role
model, and arbitrator; the images related to personal quality were classified
into two sorts of categories, such as love and diverse talents, and the
images of a vocational status were classified into 2 sorts of categories, such
as ‘Gap’, or ‘A’, who has the upper hand over ‘B’ in a contract, and a
demanding job. In addition, it was found that there existed the more or less difference consequent on the educational background acquired through
diverse paths of a pre-service child-care teacher, and children’s age in their
charge.
