본 연구는 창의적 체험활동과 연계한 다문화교육을 통해 초등 예비교사의 다문화교육 역량 변화를 분석하고 이를 바탕으로 예비교사를 위한 다문화 교육과정 운영의 필요성을 시사하고자 한다.이 를 위해 A지역 B교육대학 4학년 학생 중 창의적 체험활동과 다문화교육을 강좌를 수강하는 102 명을 대상으로 연구를 실시하였다.초등 예비교사의 다문화교육 역량 수준을 파악하고,창의적 체 험활동과 연계한 다문화교육의 효과성을 파악하기 위하여 사전 및 사후 다문화교육 역량 변화를 분석하였으며,강좌에 대한 학생들의 반응을 질적으로 분석하였다.창의적 체험활동과 연계한 다문 화교육이 예비 초등 교사의 다문화교육 역량 수준 변화에 영향을 미치는가를 확인하기 위하여 실 험전과 실험후의 다문화교육 역량 수준을 분석하였다.그 결과 실험전과 실험후의 평균은 통계적 으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다.설문 응답을 통해서,예비교사들은 본 수업을 통해 다문화교육이 다문화가정 자녀뿐만 아니라 일반 학생 대상으로도 진행되어야 한다는 것을 알게 되 었으며,이를 바탕으로 이중언어교육에 대한 관심도 갖게 되었음을 확인 할 수 있었다.뿐만 아니 라 본 강의는 연구 대상자들의 가치 및 태도 함양에도 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다.본 강의를 통해 다문화 학생 입장에서 먼저 생각하고,수업을 계획해야겠다고 다짐한 경우도 있었으 며,다문화교육에 대한 관심과 흥미가 생겼다고 의견을 제시한 경우도 많았다.특히,교사로서 다 문화교육의 중요성을 깨닫고 책임감을 갖게 되었다는 의견도 있었다.이와 같이 다문화교육을 통 해 인식 개선과 함께 다문화교육에 대한 가치 및 태도를 함양하게 되었다는 연구 결과는 예비교사 교육과정에서 다문화교육이 필요함을 시사한다.
The purpose of the study is to assess the competency in multicultural education of preservice elementary teachers after trainings in multicultural education accompanied by creative expriencial activities. It examined 102 senior preservice teachers following creative experiencial activities and multicultural teaching training classes in “B” college of education in “A” area. This study measured a pre and post test of multicultural competency of preservice teachers, as well as to consider the quality research in analyzing the responses of those. The research that followed were designed to analyze how incorporating creative expriencial activities into multicultural education affects preservice teachers’ competency to teach a multicultural class. This is where the most significant differences in statistics were verified. Our survey and studies learned that the potential teaching force recognized the necessity of multicultural education not only for children from multicultural background but also general students in multicultural education programs. This led participants to show more interest in multiple-language teaching. The relevant courses and trainings had positive influences on the participants’ value judgement and attitude. Some pledged to implement direct changes that promote multicultural approaches to teaching and showed an increased interest to such approaches. In particular, there were reliable indications of the reminder of responsibility to employ these approaches. The study as a whole showed that improvement of awareness towards multicultural education requires fostering multicultural values and attitude in preservice teachers’ training program.
