This study was implemented for exploring the recognition of the influencing factors on dependence of
artificial intelligence technology. For the purpose, focus group interviews were applied. The interviewees
were 8 experts in artificial intelligence technology, 4 experts in digital dependency psychotherapy, and 8
who experienced dependence on digital technology. The data were analyzed using Nvivo. As the result, we classified 4 types of characteristic factors on the dependence of artificial intelligence technology. First,
‘Presence’ means phenomena in which participants feel that the virtual world is a real world. Second,
‘Self-personalized’ means to provide information and service as each individual needs and personal tastes.
Third, ‘Self-directedness’ means that things that can not be controlled in the real world can be realizedin
the virtual world. Forth, ‘Intelligence’ means that artificial intelligence technology replaces human cognitive
function, information processing, and judgment, and the boundary between human and machine becomes
blurred.
