The purpose of this study was to analyze the status of the management, obstructive factors, and
teachers’ needs of parent’s participation as volunteers in day care center. The subjects of this study
were 320 teachers who were working in a day care center, located in 7 cities Gyeonggi - do, and
282 questionnaires were statistically analyzed. The results of this study were as follows: First, in the
status of the management of parent’s participation as volunteers, the majority of the teachers had
experience of volunteer help, but the student teacher showed the highest rate. And the parent
volunteers operate in a voluntary manner. Second, as a result of examining the obstacles to the
management of parent’s participation as volunteers, the parents’ side showed the highest time
difficulties due to double – income and the side of teachers and institutions were investigated by
teachers’ lack of time for program implementation. Third, teachers’ value perception about parents
participation as volunteers was in the order of parents, infants and children, teachers, and institutions.
Fourth, teachers needs for parents participation as volunteers were highest in special event supports,
followed by talent supports and teaching supports.
