Due to the growing interest in the role of rejection sensitivity in children’s mental health, there has been a noteworthy increase in research on rejection sensitivity, psychological maladjustment and maladaptive behavior. The aim of this study was twofold: to review recent research on child rejection sensitivity and its related variables and to suggest directions for future research. For this, definition and early development on rejection sensitivity and commonly used measures of rejection sensitivity were examined. Further, recent studies on the environmental factors on the development of rejection sensitivity, and the association between children’s rejection sensitivity and maladaptive behavior, and the moderator variable were reviewed. Finally, future directions for the study of children's rejection sensitivity were suggested.
