본 연구는 일본의 서남 제도 일대에 전해지는 <오모이마쯔가네 신화>를 고찰의 대상으로 하여, 이 신화가 한국 신화의 영향을 받아서 성립되었다는 것을 밝히기 위하여 마련된 것이다. 이런 연구 목적을 설정한 이유는 일본의 학자들이 한국의 자료를 무시한 채, 이 신화의 원류를 일본의 본토에서 찾으려고 하고 있기 때문이다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 이 신화의 일광 감응 모티브는 한국의 <주몽 신화>와 관계가 있고, 심부 고난(尋父苦難)의 모티브는 <유리왕 신화>와 관계가 있다는 것을 밝혔다. 그리고 전자는 천상의 세계에 최고신이 존재한다는 신화적 사유에서, 후자는 샤먼들이 천상 세계를 여행한다는 신화적 사유에서 유래되었다는 것을 구명하였다. 그리하여 이 신화는 북방 아시아의 샤머니즘 문화가 한국을 거쳐 이 일대에까지 파급되었음을 말해주는 자료라고 보았다.
This research will clarify the fact that the Omoimatzugane myth which is transmitted throughout Japanese south-western islands is formed by the influence of Korean myth. Several Japanese scholars have been insisting that the Omoimatzugane myth is related with Japan proper, ignoring the Korean data. This is the reason why this research is written. Therefore, this research investigate that sunlight-sympathy motif is related to the King Joomong myth, and father-suffering motif is to the King Youri myth. The former reflects the mythical speculation which the Supreme Being exists in the Heavenly world, and the latter does the mythical one Shamans travel the Heavenly world. Like these, the Omoimatzugane myth is the material revealing the fact that culture of Shamanism in northern Asia spreads to south-western islands in Japan by way of Korea.
