Multi－cultural characteristics in Pansori are found on the way of uniting of medium form. Pansori was formed through the mingling of various medum forms, and many public genres related with Pansori in modern times were derived from the mingling of medium forms. Pansori was originated with the elements of folk culture, but it was contacted with diverse cultures of upper class and middle class in the course of growth and development. Among genres contacted with Pansori, the song of shaman was the genre which many different kind of cultures were accumulated continuously during the long time, through Narae (Seasoning performance in royal court), royal culture and entertaining element, and through amusing artistic genres in consuming city, refined musical quality and elegance. Pansori’s heterogeneity caused from these contacts with various diverse cultures or medium forms, became a resource of boundless cultural variety of Pansori’s elements in modern times. Pansori have four elements of medium form, that is, sound, image, story, and expressional way. Pansori make new public genres by tuning of these medium forms, one style with metaphoric recognition frame based on similarity, the other style with metonymic recognition frame based on contiguity. Pansori opera, new Pansori with new composition style, Pansori with Gayageum(a twelve－stringed Korean harp), yard playing, movie, drama, musical, advertisement related with Pansori in modern times, are metaphoric or metonymic compounding of four elements of medium form. Pansori’s elements penetrate into modern public cultural genres. It’s because oral and entertaining tendency as a modern public cultural pursuit coincides with Pansori’s one. And it’s because the crossover or fusion of generic boundary in modern public cultures coincides with the tendency of mixture or amalgamation of medium forms in Pansori.
